Privacy Policy

AltNet LLC (“AltNet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a social network built around game characters and related social and game activity. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the AltNet mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

For purposes of this Privacy Policy:

• “Supported Games” means games and related game services that AltNet supports or integrates with.
• “Game Providers” means the developers, publishers, operators, licensors, and/or rights holders associated with Supported Games.
• “User Content” means content that users submit to AltNet, such as posts, comments, profile information, and uploaded images.

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Additional information about individual Supported Games and their respective Game Providers may be provided in AltNet’s Game & Third-Party Notices.

1. Information We Collect

Account and profile information

When you create or maintain an AltNet account, we may collect information such as your email address, AltNet handle, profile image, account identifiers, authentication information, and account settings.

AltNet uses authentication services to manage account access. Passwords are handled through our authentication provider and are not stored by AltNet in readable form.

Some people may initially use AltNet through a temporary or anonymous account before creating a full account. Information associated with that account may be used to provide the Services during that session and, where supported, may become associated with a full AltNet account if the account is upgraded.

Connected game characters

When you connect a character from a Supported Game, AltNet may receive authorization information and game-related data made available through the applicable Game Provider’s official authorization or API systems.

Depending on the Supported Game and the permissions you approve, this information may include character identifiers, character names, profile information, affiliations, statistics, activity, game events, and other information needed to provide supported AltNet features.

AltNet does not ask for or receive your password for a Supported Game. When a Game Provider provides an official authorization system, AltNet uses that system and may securely store authorization tokens required to maintain the connection and access information you have authorized.

The exact information available from each Supported Game may differ. Game-specific information is described where appropriate in our Game & Third-Party Notices.

User Content and social activity

When you use AltNet’s social features, we collect information you choose to provide or generate through those features. This may include:

• posts and uploaded images;
• comments and replies;
• likes and other engagement;
• follows and social connections;
• reports and blocking actions; and
• information associated with your public AltNet profile.

Some User Content and social activity is intended to be visible to other AltNet users or publicly within the Services. Privacy and visibility depend on the feature involved.

Reports, blocking actions, moderation information, and similar safety-related records are not treated as ordinary public social activity and may be used internally to operate and protect the Services.

Game activity and derived information

AltNet may receive, display, organize, or calculate information based on data made available by Supported Games.

For example, AltNet may use game information to generate character statistics, activity summaries, historical information, rankings, or other features. Some of this information may originate from public game data, while other information may require authorization from a connected character.

Game-generated information may exist independently of AltNet and may remain available from a Game Provider or other sources even if an AltNet account or character connection is later removed.

Purchases and subscriptions

If you purchase an AltNet subscription or other supported paid feature, the transaction is processed by the applicable platform or payment provider.

AltNet may receive information needed to verify and manage the purchase, such as product identifiers, transaction identifiers, subscription status, renewal status, purchase or expiration dates, and related verification information.

AltNet does not receive your full payment-card information from platform payment providers.

Advertising and privacy choices

AltNet may display advertising to users who do not have an active ad-free entitlement.

Advertising and consent-management providers may process information necessary to deliver ads, measure advertising, prevent fraud, comply with privacy choices, and operate their services.

Depending on your location and applicable law, AltNet may present consent or privacy controls relating to advertising. Your choices may affect how advertising information is processed or whether certain forms of advertising are shown.

Device, network, and service information

When you use AltNet, we and our service providers may process technical information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services. This may include information such as your IP address, operating system or platform, app version, request information, timestamps, error information, and security-related activity.

We may also create operational records relating to authentication, API requests, account activity, security events, moderation, fraud prevention, and service performance.

2. How We Use Information

AltNet uses information collected through the Services to operate, provide, secure, and improve AltNet. Depending on the information and feature involved, we may use it to:

• create, authenticate, and manage AltNet accounts;
• maintain profiles and connected game characters;
• retrieve, organize, display, and update information from Supported Games;
• generate character statistics, activity summaries, and other derived features;
• provide social features such as posts, comments, follows, likes, notifications, and discovery;
• process reports, blocking actions, moderation decisions, and other safety features;
• verify purchases, subscriptions, and ad-free entitlements;
• provide advertising and honor applicable advertising consent or privacy choices;
• send transactional or service-related communications, such as account verification, password-reset, security, or account-change messages;
• respond to support, account, and privacy requests;
• detect, investigate, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, security incidents, or violations of our Terms or Community Rules;
• maintain the reliability, performance, and integrity of the Services;
• comply with applicable law, legal process, and enforceable requests; and
• establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

We may also use aggregated or de-identified information for analytics, service planning, reliability, and product improvement where that information does not reasonably identify an individual.

3. When We Disclose Information

Service providers

We use third-party service providers to help operate the Services. These providers may process information on AltNet’s behalf for purposes such as hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, email delivery, advertising, consent management, subscription verification, security, monitoring, and other operational functions.

We provide these services only with information reasonably necessary for the functions they perform. Where applicable, we require service providers processing personal information on our behalf to use it only for authorized purposes and to provide the same or an equivalent level of protection for personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable law.

Game Providers

When you connect or use features associated with a Supported Game, information may be exchanged with the applicable Game Provider through its official authorization, API, or related systems.

For example, AltNet may send authorization credentials or game identifiers when requesting information you have authorized AltNet to access.

Game Providers operate independently from AltNet. Their collection and use of information through their own products, websites, accounts, and authorization systems is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Other AltNet users and public features

Information you choose to make public through AltNet may be visible to other users of the Services.

Depending on the feature, this may include your AltNet handle, profile image, connected game characters, public game information, posts, comments, follows, likes, and other social or game-related activity.

You should only submit User Content that you are comfortable sharing with the audience shown or reasonably expected for that feature.

Advertising and consent providers

Advertising providers may receive or process information needed to provide advertising, measure performance, detect fraud, honor consent or privacy selections, and operate their advertising services.

The information processed and the advertising experience you receive may depend on your location, device settings, consent choices, and applicable law.

AltNet does not sell your AltNet account information for money. Depending on applicable privacy law, certain advertising-related processing or disclosures may be considered “sharing,” targeted advertising, or a “sale.” Where required, AltNet provides applicable consent and privacy-choice mechanisms.

Legal, safety, and enforcement purposes

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

• comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
• protect the rights, property, or safety of AltNet, our users, or others;
• investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
• enforce our Terms of Service, Community Rules, or other agreements; or
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Business transfers

If AltNet is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or similar business transaction, information may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

With your direction or consent

We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or otherwise give us permission.

4. Game Data and Visibility

AltNet integrates with Supported Games to provide character profiles, statistics, activity, and related features. Game information available through AltNet may come from different sources and may have different visibility rules.

Public game information

Some information displayed by AltNet may already be public or otherwise available through a Game Provider or other legitimate source.

This may include character information, affiliations, statistics, game events, or other information that the applicable Game Provider makes publicly available.

Because this information exists independently of AltNet, disconnecting a character, deleting an AltNet account, or blocking another AltNet user does not necessarily remove or make private the underlying game information outside AltNet.

Authorized game information

Some features may require you to authorize AltNet to access information associated with a character from a Supported Game.

AltNet uses the permissions made available by the applicable Game Provider and only requests access needed for supported features. The information available and permissions required may vary by Supported Game.

Removing or changing a character connection may affect AltNet’s ability to retrieve updated information for that character. Information already obtained through the Services may be retained as described in this Privacy Policy.

Derived information

AltNet may organize, combine, summarize, or calculate information obtained from Supported Games to provide features such as statistics, activity summaries, historical information, or other character-related insights.

These derived features may be based on public game information, authorized information, or a combination of both.

Delayed game activity

AltNet may provide features that delay when certain supported game activity becomes visible within the Services.

When such a feature is enabled, AltNet may retain the relevant information while delaying its display within AltNet according to the applicable feature settings.

These controls affect visibility within AltNet only. They do not make the underlying game activity private or prevent a Game Provider or other independent source from making the same information available elsewhere.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

AltNet retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and maintain the Services, protect users and the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it is processed.

Account and profile information

Account and profile information is generally retained while your AltNet account remains active and as needed to provide the Services.

If you delete your AltNet account, AltNet removes or schedules removal of account-associated information in accordance with our account-deletion process, subject to the limited exceptions described below.

User Content

Posts, comments, uploaded media, and other User Content may be retained while they remain associated with your account or until they are otherwise removed.

When an AltNet account is deleted, account-associated User Content and uploaded media are removed or scheduled for removal as part of the deletion process, except where limited retention is reasonably necessary or legally required.

Connected-character information

Authorization information used to maintain connected game characters is retained while needed to provide the applicable connection and related features.

Disconnecting a character may stop or limit AltNet’s ability to retrieve updated authorized information. Disconnecting a character does not necessarily remove game information that is public, independently available, or already incorporated into legitimate AltNet records or features.

Subscription and transaction information

AltNet may retain purchase, subscription, entitlement, and transaction-verification records as reasonably necessary to provide paid features, maintain financial and transaction records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Payment credentials such as full payment-card numbers are handled by the applicable payment platform and are not stored by AltNet.

Safety, security, and moderation records

We may retain limited information relating to reports, moderation actions, account security, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, or violations of our Terms or Community Rules when reasonably necessary to protect users and the Services, maintain enforcement history, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

Public and independently available game data

Deleting an AltNet account does not require a Game Provider or other independent source to delete information that exists outside AltNet.

AltNet may also continue to process game information that is legitimately public or independently available where doing so is necessary to provide game-related features that are not dependent on the deleted account.

Account deletion

You can initiate deletion of your AltNet account from within the AltNet app.

Account deletion removes or schedules removal of account-associated records and uploaded media in accordance with AltNet’s deletion process. Some limited records may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, enforcement, or other legitimate purposes permitted by law.

6. Security

AltNet uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

These safeguards may include encrypted network connections, access controls, authentication protections, restricted access to production systems, database and infrastructure security controls, monitoring, and other measures appropriate to the nature of the information and the Services.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure. While we work to protect information processed through AltNet, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International Processing

AltNet and the service providers that support the Services may process information in the United States and other countries.

As a result, information may be processed in jurisdictions whose privacy and data-protection laws differ from those where you live.

Where required by applicable law, AltNet takes appropriate measures regarding international transfers and processing of personal information.

8. Children’s Privacy

AltNet is not intended for children under 13 years of age, or for children who have not reached the minimum age required to use an online service without parental consent under applicable law.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in circumstances where parental consent is legally required.

If we learn that personal information has been collected from a child in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information and, where appropriate, disable or delete the associated account.

A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information to AltNet in violation of this section may contact support@altnetapp.com.

9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you certain rights regarding your personal information.

These rights may include the ability to:

• request access to certain personal information we maintain about you;
• request correction of inaccurate personal information;
• request deletion of certain personal information;
• request information about how certain personal information is collected, used, or disclosed;
• request a portable copy of certain information where applicable;
• object to or request restriction of certain processing where applicable;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
• exercise applicable choices concerning targeted advertising, sharing, or other advertising-related processing.

Not all rights apply in every jurisdiction or to every type of information. Certain information may also be exempt from a request where retention or processing is permitted or required by law.

Account and profile controls

Many account settings and profile details can be managed directly within AltNet.

You can also disconnect supported game characters, manage applicable privacy settings, block users, and use other account controls available within the app.

Account deletion

You can initiate deletion of your AltNet account directly within the AltNet app.

Advertising choices

Where applicable, AltNet provides advertising consent and privacy controls through the app.

Depending on your location and the advertising technologies involved, these controls may allow you to make choices regarding personalized advertising, targeted advertising, sharing, or other advertising-related processing.

You may also be able to control certain advertising or privacy settings through your device or platform provider.

Privacy requests

To make a privacy request that cannot be completed through AltNet’s built-in controls, contact support@altnetapp.com.

We may need to verify your identity or your control of the relevant AltNet account before fulfilling certain requests.

Where applicable, you may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require appropriate verification of the agent’s authority and your identity as permitted by law.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by applicable law.

10. Third-Party Services and Supported Games

AltNet relies on third-party services to operate certain parts of the Services, including infrastructure, authentication, storage, communications, advertising, payment and subscription processing, security, and other technical functions.

Those third parties may process information as necessary to provide their services to AltNet. Their own products, websites, accounts, and services are governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

AltNet also integrates with Supported Games and their Game Providers. When you connect a game character or use a game-related feature, information may be exchanged with the applicable Game Provider through its official authorization, API, or related systems.

AltNet does not control the privacy practices of Game Providers or other third-party services that operate independently from AltNet.

Third-party links

The Services may contain links to websites, applications, or services operated by third parties.

AltNet is not responsible for the content, security, availability, or privacy practices of third-party services. You should review the applicable terms and privacy policies before providing information to those services.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as AltNet, our practices, Supported Games, or applicable legal requirements change.

When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy.

If a change materially affects how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we may provide additional notice through the Services or by other appropriate means when required by law.

Your continued use of the Services after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective is subject to the updated policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent or another form of notice.
